Not Me Monday

This has always been one of my favorite memes but it's been quite some time since I've done one. It's been a pretty busy summer aroundhere, but the kids go back to school tomorrow, so I should have much more time on my hands!

I did not got to the hospital to see the boyfriend's cousin's baby the other day, hold her, fall in love and want my own all over again. Not Me!

I did not tell him once we got in the truck that I want another one. Not me!

I was not just a little bit salty when he said no. Not Me!

I am not super excited that the kids are going back to school tomorrow, so I can have peace and quiet around here for a few hours. I am not even more excited because the boyfriend's dad will be going back to work too, so he won't be around as much. Not Me!

I did not just get finished with one of the funniest Skype conversations ever since I started chatting on there. And in this super funny conversation, they were not trying to give me a nickname that sounded like a strippers. Not Me!

I did not sit right here at my desk and laugh so much and so hard that the boyfriend started laughing at me, then mocking my laugh. I did not think, "oh you ass". Not Me!

The Boy's Store - Review & Giveaway

We are proud to be one of the very few online shopping destinations exclusively for BOYS. Our goal is to provide you with fabulous, functional boy's clothing, and accessories, PLUS make your shopping experience simple and easy. Our store is designed to bring you more boy's clothing options for great style, from traditional sportswear to the trendiest gear, in a wide range of sizes.

Being a mother of older boys, it's really hard to find clothes for them online. It's definitely not as easy as if I had younger ones, or especially girls. Boutiques for girls are so easy to find, they come a dime a dozen. Not so true for boys. That's why I was so excited when I found The Boy's Store. The name says it all! They have so many items and brands to choose from, I could literally spend hours looking around on their site.

Their website is so easy to navigate. You can shop by age, item or brand. You can even shop sale items.

The Boy's Store sent me an outfit for each of my boys to try out. They each got a shirt and a pair of shorts. All of the clothes we received are great quality and my boys like them.

I let them take a look through the website, and they found a lot of things they like. They are pretty picky with their clothes {yes, they should have been girls!} so that is a definite bonus right there! We won't have to spend countless hours looking through online store after store to find something they like and want that is affordable.

Win it:
One lucky Outnumbered 3 to 1 reader will win a $25 Gift Certificate to The Boy's Store!

For your first MAIN entry - Head to The Boy's Store and tell me an item you like. This step must be done before you can qualify for extra entries.

And It's Over

The weekend is finally over, and I am so thankful. I sat outside for a garage sale that just didn't do so great, and my mom kept leaving, so I was stuck out there alone, watching all that crap. I could have came in the house here and there, but the boyfriend had a speaker box out there that our neighbor kept eying up all weekend long, trying to offer $5 for when it was a $350 box. I laughed in his face.

This guy is a professional thief. Seriously, no joke. He takes off in his van in the morning and returns later with a van full of stuff. He's always trying to sell my dad something. Maybe not all of it's stolen, but I guarantee the majority is. I love having the ghetto right next door, with their barking dogs, garbage and noise.

Oh ya, every time someone pulled up to the garage sale, the dogs at that house would bark like crazy. Sometimes I think they're guard dogs, so he knows when someone's outside. It was really really really annoying. Even the people who stopped by were annoyed by them. It was ridiculous. There was also about a 3x3 ft. area of garbage right next to their garbage can in the alley so the flies were horrible. It's just seriously disgusting. I don't know how people can be so dirty and disrespectful.

The Fixer Upper - Review & Giveaway {Closed}

The Fixer Upper
A Novel

By Mary Kay Andrews

The delightful New York Times bestselling author returns with a hilarious novel about one woman's quest to redo an old house . . . and her life.

After her boss in a high-powered Washington public relations firm is caught in a political scandal, fledgling lobbyist Dempsey Jo Killebrew is left almost broke, unemployed, and homeless. Out of options, she reluctantly accepts her father's offer to help refurbish Birdsong, the old family place he recently inherited in Guthrie, Georgia. All it will take, he tells her, is a little paint and some TLC to turn the fading Victorian mansion into a real-estate cash cow.

But, oh, is Dempsey in for a surprise when she arrives in Guthrie. "Bird Droppings" would more aptly describe the moldering Pepto Bismol–pink dump with duct-taped windows and a driveway full of junk. There's also a murderously grumpy old lady, one of Dempsey's distant relations, who has claimed squatter's rights and isn't moving out. Ever.

Furthermore, everyone in Guthrie seems to know Dempsey's business, from a smooth-talking real-estate agent to a cute lawyer who owns the local newspaper. It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the pesky FBI agents who show up on Dempsey's doorstep, hoping to pry information about her ex-boss from her.

All Dempsey can do is roll up her sleeves and get to work. And before long, what started as a job of necessity somehow becomes a labor of love and, ultimately, a journey that takes her to a place she never expected—back home again.

The Fixer Upper isn't usually the type of book I would read. I'm a murder mystery kind of girl. I like the suspense and to be on the edge of my seat the whole time wondering who did it. Despite all of that, despite the fact that this is definitely not that kind of book, I just could not put it down.

I got so caught up in Dempsey's story, the fixing up of the house, the mean old great-aunt, the love story, the betrayal. I felt connected to her somehow, connected to that house. I could really almost picture it, Mary Kay described it so well.

The Fixer Upper is available in hardcover format for $25.99 at Haper Collins.

Win it:
Three lucky Outnumbered 3 to 1 readers will win a copy of The Fixer Upper.

For your first MAIN entry - Head to Harper Collins and tell me another book you'd like to read. This step must be done before you can qualify for extra entries.

Eau Flirt - review & Giveaway {CLOSED}

Introducing the first perfume that flirts for you! Eau Flirt has been clinically proven to attract men with its wickedly irresistible fragrance. Heads will turn with just one whiff of this subtle, yet sexy scent.

I love to smell good. I seriously doubt there's a day that goes by that I don't wear perfume. It's pretty much second nature to me.

When I heard about Eau Flirt, I really wanted to try it. Who wouldn't? I mean c'mon, it's supposed to make you irresistible! I like to feel hot.

I tried it a few times this week, and really loved the scent. I went out with the boyfriend and some friends last night, so I put some on to really test it out. We all met at my friend M's house. The boyfriend and I walked into the living room and after a few minutes his cousin B was like "Damn Melissa, is that you?" I was like what do I stink or something? He said "No, you smell f'n good." I laughed. The boyfriend's brother walks in the room. He says "Mmmm, you smell good." I laughed and said thanks, thinking hmm, maybe this stuff does work. My friend M {who is a female} walks in the room a few minutes later. She said "Holy shit Melissa, you smell good! I think I'm feeling a little like a lesbian." and joked all night about me turning her on.

It was hilarious! I did not tell them what perfume I was wearing, or tell them that it was designed to make guys flirt with you, until AFTER M said what she said. So I guess guys aren't the only ones who this smell appeals to lol. I guess my body chemistry and this perfume go hand in hand. I will definitely buy some more when I run out!

Win it:
One lucky Outnumbered 3 to 1 reader will win a bottle of Eau Flirt.

For your first entry? Head to Harvey Prince and tell me something you learned or would like to try. This step must be done before you can qualify for extra entries.

Time for Some Football... Fantasy That Is

How much does your guy like football? Does he watch it every Sunday? Does he like it so much he participates in Fantasy Football?

I have 3 guys in my house, so football is just second nature around here. It doesn't help that I have 2 brothers and a dad right next door. It's always on the television, being played or talked about. What can I say, they love football.

My dad and boyfriend like to do the Fantasy Football thing. They're always joining in at work or through their friends. It's all I hear about for months. I'm sure they will be pretty excited when I tell them about a website that has everything you need to win your fantasy football league in one place. Anything they can do to help win, right!

With WaiverWire my guy could use the fantasy football draft software and find out about fantasy football news and analysis. He could reach out to other football fans in the forums and also access over 100 Local NFL team news feeds. He could even do fantasy football research, check out rankings and player comparisons. This site could really help him with his fantasy football game. Hey, if he's going to play, I want him to be in it to win it!

Tony Lama - Review & Giveaway {CLOSED}

Here is an interesting bit of information about Tony Lama. You can also view more here. It's a pretty interesting story.

After the turn of the century, Tony Lama joined the U.S. Cavalry as a cobbler for the soldiers stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. Once he completed his tour of service, he decided to stay in the nearby border town of El Paso. Realizing the importance of a good boot fit from his stint in the Cavalry, Tony Lama set out to make the best fitting, most comfortable boot possible.

Lil Man has always had a thing with cowboy boots for some reason. He really likes them.

But I've never owned a pair, or wore them for that matter. Not because I don't like them, but because I don't dress to fit a cowboy boot I guess. But let me tell you, I'm seriously rethinking that after I saw some of the boots from Tony Lama. They've got some super cute ones for us women, and of course for the guys and kids as well.

The Tony Lama Youth's Briar Pitstop Workboots pictured to the left arrived in the mail for Lil Man. It wasn't a surprise or anything, he picked them out all on his own. But he sure was excited when they came. He couldn't wait for me to open the box so he could dig in!

We opened up the box and I was impressed. Lil Man has had cowboy boots before, but nothing like these. The quality of these boots are unreal. that whole design you see there on the side of the book, that's all stitching. it's beautiful. The soles are rubber, so I don't have to worry about them being slippery like a lot of other boots. The leather is nice and tough, built to last. The best part... Lil Man loves them! he tried to wear them to bed the first night, goof ball!

Win it:
One lucky Outnumbered 3 to 1 reader will win a pair of TLX Kids Boots in your choice of style.

For your first entry? Head to Tony Lama and tell me your favorite boots. This step must be done before you can qualify for extra entries.

Aloha Friday

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

My question this week is:

What do you do with all the junk you don't use anymore? Do you have a rummage/garage sale, donate it to charity, throw it away or do something entirely different?

I had a basement full of stuff that we've accumulated over the past 4 years or so. I finally went through it all and set it up for a rummage sale. Whatever doesn't sell is going to the local Project Concern.

Mortal Friends Review & Giveaway {CLOSED}

Mortal Friends
A Novel
By Jane Stanton Hitchcock

When the latest victim of the "Beltway Basher" is found in the woods of Montrose Park, Reven Lynch's favorite jogging spot, her crime-loving antenna goes up. The murder makes Reven and her best friend, Violet Bolton, reconsider their running route—but that's not the only change in Reven's routine. Her chic Georgetown neighborhood isn't accustomed to brutal slayings, and when the smooth, enigmatic Detective Gunner shows up in her antique shop, asking pointed questions, Reven's left wondering how close to home the killings are.

Gunner is convinced the murderer is a society bigshot hiding in plain sight. But he is out of his element in the rarefied world of embassy dinners and symphony balls, and Reven is perfectly positioned to feed him the inside information he needs. She throws herself into her role as the detective's "ersatz Mata Hari," only to discover that the prominent skirt-chasing businessman for whom she's fallen tops Gunner's shortlist of suspects. And that's not the half of it: a philanthropic bombshell named Cynthia Rinehart has taken the city by storm, and Violet's steady marriage is suddenly encountering some major turbulence. . . .

During the course of the investigation, the social world will unravel, an old friendship will be put to the test, scandalous secrets will be unleashed, and Reven will discover that nothing old or new, in high culture or low life, is what it appears. A riveting tale of murder, money, and high society, set in the glamorous, politics-fueled world of the nation's capital, Mortal Friends delivers another "killer read" (People).

Mortal Friends was a complete story of "Who done it" from beginning to end. There were so many different people I thought did it throughout the whole book, and the only one I didn't think about was the culprit. I got caught up in Reven's life and wondered who was betraying her and what would happen next. This book was a great read and I definitely recommend it.

Win it:
Three lucky Outnumbered 3 to 1 readers will win a copy of Mortal Friends.

For your first entry? Head to Harper Collins and tell me another book you'd like to read. This step must be done before you can qualify for extra entries.

{CLOSED} Detective's Don't Wear Seat Belts - Review & Giveaway

Detectives Don't Wear Seat Belts

True Adventures of a Female P.I.
Growing up in Mississippi, Cici McNair was always more the tomboy her mother supported than the Southern belle her father demanded. She escaped her suffocating upbringing the first chance she had to travel the world. Whether working at the Vatican in Rome or consorting with a gunrunner in Haiti, she lived a life of international adventure. When Cici finds herself in New York, divorced, broke, and fashionably starving to death in a Madison Avenue apartment, she impulsively decides to become a private detective.

But, as Cici soon learns, the world of P.I.s is tight-knit and made up almost exclusively of former law enforcement officers. By nature, they are a highly suspicious group and are especially wary of a newcomer with an untraceable past. Diligently working her way through the Yellow Pages, doggedly pursuing the slightest lead, Cici is finally hired by a private investigator willing to take a chance. The next day she's working side by side with a pair of seasoned detectives and a skip tracer who is scary to meet but like silk on the phone. She quickly realizes she'll need all her energy and wits to succeed in this new world.

Being a private investigator is as exciting and liberating as Cici ever dreamed, from creating a false identity on the spot on her first case in the field to surviving adrenaline-rushing car chases. Working with law enforcement, she goes undercover, dealing with the ruthless Born to Kill gang in Chinatown and the Middle Eastern counterfeiters west of Broadway. A detailed account of the hidden world and real-life cases of a P.I., this action-packed memoir is as entertaining as any detective novel you've ever read.
I thought Detectives Don't Wear Seat Belts was great. I couldn't put it down. I got so caught up in Cici's life, her "assignments", all of it. I wish I had her guts because it sure sounds like a lot of fun and quite a life. She told the story so well, so well in fact that you forget what you're reading really happened. I recommend this book as a must read for anyone who loves to read about adventure, crime and mysteries.

Win it:
Three lucky Outnumbered 3 to 1 readers will win a copy of Detectives Don't Wear Seat Belts.

It's That Time of Year - Garage Sale Time

We moved into this house 3 years ago, and I had so much stuff to get rid of. I planned on having a huge Garage Sale that summer. Well life happened, so the Garage Sale never did.

Finally, 3 years later, the last weekend of summer, it's time. But it's not just a simple task as taking everything out of boxes and setting it up on tables. My basement and storage room was a mess. So first we had to clean.

We had 2 washers, a dryer and a water heater that needed to go to the recycling place. My brothers and boyfriend started loading the truck. One of the washers didn't have anything to easily grab onto and the boyfriend sliced his finger.... pretty bad. We thought we might have to make a trip to the hospital for stitches. Thank God we didn't. I hate hospitals.

So he's all cleaned up and bandaged up {thanks to nurse Melissa here} and we start our journey to the recycling company. Mind you, we have a truck full of... well garbage. We probably looked like those junkers you see going through alleys trying to find something they can steal.

Yes, they do steal. 2 years ago the boyfriend had his planks {for roofing} and some other wood on the side of the garage. One morning I went to take the garbage out and they were gone. Damn dirty junkers.

A few weeks ago the corner piece of siding came of the garage. The boyfriend was going to fix it but had to wait until the next day to get his screw gun from the job site. The junkers came through and stole it that night! Damn dirty junkers.

Anyway, back to my story.

I'm the woman, so of course I'm the only one who knows what's what in the basement, whether it was garbage, rummage or our stuff to keep. So I had to sit in the storage room, go through every box and supervise where it all went. I even put the kids to work like little slaves. They were a big help.

The majority of the basement is nice and clean {as clean as an unfinished basement with bare floors, ceilings and walls really can be} for the most part.

Tomorrow I get to start my journey of setting it all up and hopefully pawning it all off on someone else that needs my junk. What ever doesn't sell will be loaded up into the truck and taken to Project Concern, a local food pantry that also provides clothing, toys, furniture and household items for people in need.

So that's my weekend plans. What are yours?

Mayfair Lane Review

About Mayfair Lane:

Launched in the spring of 2008, Mayfair Lane has the gift market buzzing with its innovative products and fresh designs. Its patent-pending Happeez® product line is made up of simple, classic gifts that take gift-giving to a whole new level by virtue of their being both uniquely stylish as well as extremely practical.

Mayfair Lane offers a variety of products from clippers, notepads, photo frames and more.

I had the chance to try out a set of Happeez clipper trio from Mayfair Lane. What's great about these clippers, is that they're like magnets without the magnetic backing so they can stick to stainless steel appliances, glass, mirrors and aluminum. They stick really well to the refrigerator and are really easy to open. The clippers snap shut as soon as you let go and are very strong, holding a number of papers at a time. The two pieces actually come apart and slip right back together, so I don't have to worry about them breaking like other clips I've used in the past.

Let me tell you, when you have kids and constant papers from school, artwork etc. these things sure come in handy. I love that I can stick them on any slick/non porous surface, instead of just the refrigerator. You can only fit so much on that thing before you run out of room!

Contest Rules

I love to offer contests to my fabulous readers at Outnumbered 3 to 1. I not only run these contests to help promote products, services and companies, but to also reward my readers with some cool stuff. Everyone likes to win something on occasion, right? I thought so!

To make sure that these contests are fair for everyone involved, there are certain rules and regulations that must be followed. Rules effective from August 25th 2009.

To Enter Giveaways
  • All Contest Entrants are REQUIRED to fulfill the Mandatory entry requirement. This usually involves checking out the Sponsor's website and commenting on something you like.
  • All contest entries are moderated, but there are occasions when an entry slips by me that doesn’t follow the mandatory entry. I do my best to make sure this doesn't happen, and if I notice it, I will DELETE that comment(s).
  • There are often a number of ways that you can gain extra entries into a giveaway. To receive these extra entries, you must do the Mandatory entry first
  • All winners are drawn via Random.Org unless the contest states differently. This helps to make it fair to all of the entrants. I do not play favorites with my contests, and even if you ask me to, I will not "make" you win a contest.
  • If a winner is drawn and they HAVE NOT followed the Mandatory entry they will be disqualified and a new winner will be drawn.
  • Contests are open to US only (unless otherwise noted) and entrants must be 18 or older.
Notifying Winners
  • I will notify the winner via email, usually as I am drawing each winner. There may be an occasion where I am completely busy and I will notify winners after the Winner's Post if up. This will usually be specified.
  • All winners will have 72 hours {after I send the email} to respond to the email with shipping info and any other information requested.
  • If the winner does not notify me within 48 hours their prize will be forfeit and a new winner will be drawn.
Getting Your Prize
  • After you respond to my email with the requested information, I will then forward it to the company and they will ship out your prize. I am not responsible for shipping unless otherwise stated.
  • If for some reason you do not receive your prize within 30 days, please contact me and I will try to find out what's going on. If for some reason a company does not fulfill their part of the deal, I will not be held responsible for prizes left undelivered. I apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.

Dove Body Wash with Nutrium Moisture Review

Groundbreaking Skin Care Advance
With its fifty-year heritage in cleansing and caring for skin, Dove discovered how to restore skin’s natural moisture while cleansing with body wash. A breakthrough in the body wash category, only the new Dove Body Wash collection contains NutriumMoisture™ technology that cares for surface skin ten layers deep. Unlike other body washes, this first-of-its-kind body wash technology takes a dual approach to healthy, nourished skin by preserving both proteins and lipids during cleansing.

Dove Body Wash with Nutrium Moisture comes in 3 different varieties; Gentle Exfoliating, Deep Moisture and Sensitive skin. Dove Body Wash with Nutrium Moisture collection is available at food, drug, club and mass retailers.

I had the opportunity to try all 3 varieties and I really liked them all. However, my favorite is the deep Moisture. I have serious issues with dry skin and always find the need to apply lotion. This is especially true after I shave my legs. My legs feel flaky and dry. Of course, once I apply lotion, they're nice and smooth. I noticed that I didn't really have this problem after using the body wash. I felt my legs and they were silky smooth an hour after I got out of the shower, and I didn't apply lotion. That does not happen often to me, so that was a definite benefit that will keep me coming back for more.

You can visit www.dove.com for dramatic video proof, product information and to learn more in-depth explanation of the science behind Nutrium Moisture.

Lil Man is sitting at the computer playing WoW. He's gotten disconnected from the server several times.

Lil Man - Alright, is the government disconnecting me?

I laugh because I don't even know what to say to that!

Grandpa - Now why would the government do that?

Lil Man - I don't know, hack into the computer and steal the passwords so they can play.

Lesson of this story? I think grandpa talks about government and them hacking into stuff too much!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Big Bro - Lil Man said Kayla's hot.
Lil Man - What? She is!
Big Bro - {Laughs, as do the rest of us} Worry about that when you're my age.
Mind you Big Bro is about to tun 10, so I guess he must think he's all grown up now?! That's news to me!
Creative Streak
I finally found my creative streak again. I'm thrilled, since this is one of the only times all summer long that I've made something. Yep, just call me a slacker!
I touched up some photos of book marks I made a few months ago and listed 2 of them in my Etsy shop. That only got me on a streak to make some more. I made an amber one, pink one and blue one. I'll be sure to share some pics once I take them, but I had to stop for now so I can make dinner. I've got some hungry boys to feed!
I really need a whole room to myself for crafting so I can just leave all my stuff out. It's really a pain in the ass putting it all away!
**Update**
I got dinner going, then sat down and fixed a bracelet for the boyfriend's cousin. She need a couple of beads added to make it a hair bigger. Then I made 2 more bracelets, so those will be in my shop soon too. But I have to take pics, then redo them. I forgot how much of a pain that part is lol.
500 Followers
I just hit 500 followers! I am so excited! I can't believe how much Outnumbered 3 to 1 has grown in the few short months since it's launch.
I owe it all to you. To all of you loyal readers that stop by to see what I've got going on, whether it be a meme, post about something we did, whining, or a review {and/or} giveaway. Words can not express my appreciation for each and every one of you. I would not be here without you. {Well maybe I would still be blabbering, but to myself I guess!} What's a blog without an audience? Nothing, pretty much.
So again. I thank you.
For helping me grow
For listening to me
For giving me a place to let it all out
For friendship
For Laughs
For it all.
Pond's Wet Cleansing Towelettes Review
POND’S Wet Cleansing Towelettes gently remove make-up and even waterproof mascara. These towelettes are available in three varieties, Original Clean, Mirco-Dermabrasion and Age-Defying. They are ophthalmologist and dermatologist tested for a gentle face cleansing experience.
I had the chance to try POND'S Wet Cleansing Towelettes Original Clean. They contain Triple Tea Antioxidant Complex, Vitamin E and Chamomile and the luxuriously quilted cloths with a unique diamond texture allow for a deep clean without leaving any residue behind.
First of all, I must tell you that the package has a very easy to open resealable pocket on the front of the package. It even says "PEEL HERE TO OPEN" right on the little flap you peel up. I'm a dork. I didn't see that. Instead, I sat there for about 30 seconds trying to tear the package open at the top. I finally got it, but it sure was a lot of effort! My package doesn't reseal though because I ruined it. So be warned, don't make the same mistake I did!
I was a little bit skeptical at first to try these, only because I don't normally use cleansers on my face. I'm a mild soap and water kinda girl. But I have to say I was surprised. While using the towelettes, I only felt a slight touch of cleaner. It wasn't overwhelming and didn't make my skin feel funny. It cleansed well and didn't leave any traces of foundation or residue behind.
