Janet Halfmann contacted contacted me about reviewing her book and of course I said yes. It sounded like a great book that my kids would enjoy, and something that Lil Man could read to us. After I sent her my address, she informed me that I live in the city right next to her! How cool is that? Knowing that really did make me more excited to review this book since I love to support local businesses and help the community!Written by Janet Halfmann
Illustrated by Laurie Allen Klein
While Little Skink hunts yummy ants for breakfast, she is suddenly attacked by a crow! But she has a trick to escape – she snaps off her tail, and it keeps on wiggling! Little Skink is happy to be alive, but she misses her bright blue tail. Little Skink’s Tail follows Little Skink as she daydreams of having the tails of other animals in the forest. Readers will enjoy pretending with her, trying on tail after tail. The first is too puffy-fluffy, and another too stinky! Then one day Little Skink gets a big surprise…and she doesn’t have to dream of tails anymore. The “For Creative Minds” section has information on tail adaptations and communications and a mix-and-match tail activity.
I was surprised to see all of the awards Little Skink's Tail has won! Just look at them all on the left! I think that is just amazing! My family has really enjoyed reading Little Skink's Tail. It's a story about a lizard that of course loses her tail when in danger. Then she take sa look at all the animals wondering what she'd look like with their tail. It's kind of a cute story and the kids thought it was cool that she lost her tail. See, we have a gecko and we have told the kids a number of times that if it were in the wild and in danger, it would lose it's tail. Apparently they must have thought we have been joking all of these years, until they read this book! What silly kids I have, I tell ya! They are quite the characters.
Lil man is able to read this book to us. That is definitely a big bonus because he needs practice with age appropriate books for his reading level. Many of the other books we have are much lower than his level now and much too short, or much harder than his reading level.

Oh, I took a peak at the upcoming titles and the "Bewitching the Chickadees" grabbed my attention right away! Growing up I loved chickadees {well, I still do}. Their chirp is so cute!
