Synopsis:
In Nanny McPhee Returns, Oscar?-winning actress and screenwriter Emma Thompson returns to the role of the magical nanny who appears when she’s needed the most and wanted the least in the next chapter of the hilarious and heartwarming fable that has enchanted children around the world.
In the latest installment, Nanny McPhee appears at the door of a harried young mother, Mrs. Isabel Green (Maggie Gyllenhaal), who is trying to run the family farm while her husband is away at war. But once she’s arrived, Nanny McPhee discovers that Mrs. Green’s children are fighting a war of their own against two spoiled city cousins who have just moved in and refuse to leave.
Relying on everything from a flying motorcycle and a statue that comes to life to a tree-climbing piglet and a baby elephant who turns up in the oddest places, Nanny McPhee uses her magic to teach her mischievous charges five new lessons.
The kids and I headed out for an advanced screening of Nanny McPhee Returns on Tuesday at the Marcus Majestic Ultrascreen Cinema in Waukesha. The Man was supposed to go with us, but he had to work late, so my friend met us out there instead.
First of all, we were all really surprised at the look of the theater. It was really nice. Lil Man actually asked “Is this a hotel?” to which I of course laughed and told him no. It really did have a nice lobby though with comfortable couches all around.
We got into the theater and sat down in comfortable seats. They were wider than the ones I’m used to and definitely more comfortable. We actually had leg room beyond our knees which I have never experienced before. It was wonderful and a much more comfortable experience. I encourage all movie theaters to take the plunge and splurge on more comfortable seating for their guests. it really did make a difference!
Oh, you want to know about the movie, not the theater? Ok, here we go! I didn’t see the first Nanny McPhee, so I really didn’t know what to expect.

She came to teach the children some lessons because they just couldn’t seem to get along. Of course the children freaked out when they realized she was using magic, but hey whatever works! Sometimes I think we all could use a little magic to keep our kids in line. Don’t you agree?
It didn’t take too long for her magic to work and for the children to learn to get along and work together to help save the piglets and the farm. The thing is with Nanny McPhee is that she’s there when needed and not wanted, but gone when wanted but not needed. She helped the children get along, save the farm and find their dad.
Nanny McPhee Returns was an outstanding movie full of laughs {and maybe a tear or two, shh don’t tell anyone}, sharing and love. We all absolutely loved it and had such a great time. My friend said she liked this one better than the first and she is not a sequel kind of person. I think Nanny McPhee Returns is a must see for the entire family. I give it 5 thumbs up {well, if I had that many}!
