HEXBUG Nano In-Home Party - Worms & Dirt Recipe and More!

I was sent some really cool toys last year around the holidays. We opened them up and had a blast with them. They are called HEXBUG Nano, a little robotic creature that behaves and moves like a real bug!

My whole family just loved them and we played with them all the time. Yes, even the adults thought they were cool! We had guests over during the whole holiday season and somehow the HEXBUGS always came out!

Since we are big HEXBUG fans already, I jumped all over an opportunity to host my very own HEXBUG Nano In-Home Party! You don't even know how excited I was when I found out I was chosen as a host! Then I got to share the good news with my family and they were jumping and screaming like maniacs. True story!

The wonderful people from HEXBUG sent us a huge box full of HEXBUG accessories for the party. They also included enough HEXBUG Nanos for each guest to take home 3 for themselves!

We all know that no party is complete without food! I was supplied with "buggy" recipes and created a few of my own to feed my hungry guests. I made Worms & Dirt and Ants on a Log. I'll share the recipes below! I did alter my Worms & Dirt recipe slightly from the one they sent me.

Worms & Dirt

Ingredients:
  • One pkg chocolate sandwich cookies
  • 1 package instant pudding
  • Gummy worms
  • 1 - 12 oz tub whipped cream
Directions:
  • Place cookies in large plastic bag and crush
  • Make pudding according to package directions
  • Mix whip cream in with pudding
  • Put 1/3 cookie crumbs in bottom of bowl
  • Put half pudding/whipped cream mixture on top of that
  • Add gummy worms on top of layers as you go
  • Repeat previous 3 steps
  • Put remaining 1/3 of cookie crumbs on top {which of course i forgot to do!}
Chill 4-5 hours before serving

Ants on a Log

Ingredients:
  • 2 large stalks of celery, washed and cut crosswise into halves or thirds
  • 1/3 cup peanut butter or cream cheese
  • 1 cup raisins and/or dried cranberries
Directions:
  • Fill each celery stick with peanut butter or cream cheese and sprinkle top with raisins and/or dried cranberries for the creepy crawly effect!
The kids had a really great time during the party. There were so many HEXBUG Nanos racing around the habitat, it was awesome! The kids were having races, wars, you name it! We set up the bridge too and two at a time were battling on that.

After we let the kids have some fun playing around with the habitat, we went outside for a game! We played "Bugs in Your Pants" which is kind of like "Hot Potato". Here's a picture of all the kids playing and I'll even include the instructions below!

All you need to play are 3 HEXBUG nanos, music and friends!

How to Play:
  • Have all the kids sit in a circle and choose someone to be "it". The elected player stands in the center and close their eyes.
  • All players in the circle place their hands behind their back and begin to pass one HEXBUG around the circle keeping their hands behind their backs.
  • When the music stops, the player in the center opens his eyes and points to someone he believes has the HEXBUG Nano and shouts "Bugs in your pants!" If he chooses the correct player, that person moves to the center and the game starts over. If he does not find the right person, the game continues with that person being "it" and another HEXBUG is added to the circle.
After the games were over, The Man drew one of the guest's names from a bowl and they won a Nano Bridge Battle Habitat Set!

IO received a box full of goodies from HEXBUG and One to One Network for hosting this party. Opinions expressed are my own or my families and are not influenced by any form of compensation. Take it or leave it. Click here to view my full acknowledgment policy.
