Mmmmm, chocolate. ‘Nuff said?
I love chocolate, but definitely in moderation. I love the rich and creamy texture, the taste, the pure bliss when biting into it.
Did you know that every time you buy Hershey’s, part of the proceeds help provide education, support and opportunity to children in need through the Milton Hershey School? I didn’t either, until now!
I think it’s absolutely wonderful that Hershey’s gives back and supports education like that. I wish more companies and people would take a leap to help our children. After all, they are our future. They will be the ones taking care of us in our old age. Scary thought, I know. It’s inevitable though.
Mentoring a child doesn’t have to be hard. The simplest things can make a huge difference in anyone’s life, especially that of a child. They do remember, whether you think they will or not. Their minds are taking it all in, everything that they see or do.
My boyfriend and I have very strong values and beliefs. We try our hardest to instill those same values into our children. We teach them to be respectful to others. We don’t like to hear teasing or name calling, words hurt. There’s an older woman who lives next door. She can’t get around easily, especially to do yard work. My boys and my brothers are always helping mow the lawn, clean it up, shovel snow etc. Most of the time, she does does end up paying them, but they ask her not to because they didn’t do it to get money. They did it to help.
In first grade, my oldest son had a deaf boy in his class. All of the other kids teased him and called him names. My son befriended him and stuck up for him. The teacher recognized this and talked to me about it. I late talked to my son about it and he went on to explain that those kids were mean and didn’t have a right to pick on him because he was different. My son {well both of them} has a heart of gold. If you met him, you’d see!
If everyone could do simple acts of kindness for others, this world would be a better place for us all.
“We know that it is the selfless acts of alumni that reaffirm Mr. Hershey’s belief in the importance of giving back to others and helping those in need, ensuring that his legacy is as strong today as it has ever been. And it is these stories that can help promote the school, so that more parents of children in need are aware of this amazing and rare opportunity.“
