Shopping AJWright on a $100 Budget and $50 Gift Card Giveaway {CLOSED}

"REAL DEALS, FRESH SELECTION, GREAT BRANDS, EVERY DAY. AJWright offers brand name apparel and footwear for the entire family, as well as home essentials and giftware, all up to 70% off discount and chain store prices every day. AJWright is a division of The TJX Companies, Inc., the world's leading off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions. Visit www.tjx.com for more information."

A brand new AJWright store opened in Milwaukee this May. The new store features a more functional store layout and brighter colors. As you can see in the image above, the store is set up like a track to make it easier to navigate, use a shopping cart and ultimately find what you're looking for.

I have never shopped at AJWright before, so I didn't really know what to expect when I walked in the store. I was surprised to see it nicely organized with easy to shop racks. Some things were even displayed as they would be in a regular clothing store instead of all spread out on racks that you have to pick through.

AJWright carries some great designer clothes at such affordable prices. I really couldn't believe some of them! They have some of the hottest summer styles and the prices are just insane! I'm telling you, if I could save this much every time, I could shop way more often than I do! Just wait til you see what i got when I went!

AJWright sent me a gift card to maximize a $100 shopping budget. I think I did pretty darn good at maximizing that money!

Just look at all that stuff I got for under $100! I was actually under by like $15 or something like that because I miscalculated when I was adding it all up. I got 3 shirts for me, a pair of shorts for each of the boys, a pair of jeans for the Man, a pair of shoes for Big Bro, 2 packages of Hanes socks, a set of 6 really nice wash clothes and 3 pairs of panties. Did I do good, or what? I'd say I definitely maximized those savings and did great on a $100 budget! I'll definitely be hitting up AJWright for back to school shopping this year!

Preview of the New Karen Neuburger Pajama Line

"Headquartered just north of San Francisco in idyllic Marin County, California, the KN Karen Neuburger® brand through its comfort-focused clothing design, innovative fabrics and cozy lifestyle products that resonate with today's families and their desire to slow down and rediscover the simple joys in life."
I did a review for Karen Neuburger socks back in spring during the Leap into Spring event. I tried those socks and absolutely fell in love with them! They are my favorite and most comfortable socks that I own. I also went to a review event for their new line and was able to sample a pair of their pajamas as well as another pair of socks {swoon}!

Recently, I was sent another pair for review. They are so soft and comfortable. The fabric feels so luxurious. I just adore them.

This cute little nightgown above is part of the new Karen Neuburger line which will be coming out this fall.

“We are thrilled to introduce a collection that truly caters to women of all ages,” says Jenna Lowe, Director of Marketing and PR for Russell Newman Brands. “KN Karen Neuburger stands for quality and comfort that never come at the cost of style, and the KN Collection only reinforces that sentiment. We took a close look at what’s on trend in the fashion world and used those elements in each and every nightshirt and pajama set. Our hope is that younger women will make this their go-to brand for luxury loungewear.”

Now I love sleepwear that is stylish and sexy, yet totally comfortable! It features a 60/40 cotton blend and is figure flattering and body conscious. That's a definite bonus for me since I'm not always happy with my body!

Step into Summer - YouFloral mauve-o-lous! Bouquet Review

Photobucket

Welcome to our Step into Summer event! Jennifer and I have some wonderful things lined up for you to help you get ready for summer. Make sure you visit Jennifer at Eighty MPH Mom daily to see what she has in store for you too. Many days we will be reviewing and giving away the same item on both blogs - that is two chances for you to win!

Of course flowers are an awesome gift. What girl doesn't like to receive flowers? I sure can't think of any! It's not always the flowers that get us though. It's the thought behind the flowers. Well, YouFloral has even more "thought" behind their flowers because they create these beautiful, precious and sentimental vases with their bouquets that you can treasure long after those flowers are dead.

I am a sentimental sap at heart. It's just something I was born with I guess, and so many things in life really do have special meaning to me. So you can imagine my excitement when YouFloral agreed to be part of the Step into Summer event. I was ecstatic!

I am really into quotes and sayings and there are a few that I just really love. You never know when it's going to be the end for any relationship... through death, moving or whatever the reason may be. Nothing really does last forever. So this saying I got on my vase "Treasure the moments, for each one is a gift is kind of something I try to live by. Each and every moment of our lives truly is a gift. But it's also something that so many people take for granted every single day. I am guilty of this too at times, but I try not to be.

Now the image in that vase is my kids in the lake a few years ago while we were camping. You can just see how much fun they're having trampling through the water. That moment, at that lake, truly was a gift. Going through that album, I was almost in tears because it brought back so many memories. I will have to share that album with you all one of these days. it's precious!

Anyway, I think the background and the picture go hand in hand. It was so easy to create the vase. It's a simple step by step process. There are different themes to choose from like birthday, congratulations and many more. I chose "Inspirational" and came up with the page to the right.

Then you click on the background you like and choose from 3 options; Photo and Message, Message Only and Photo Only. The you simply upload your photo and/or choose your message, then pick your flowers. It really is an easy and fun process! I chose the mauve-o-lous! bouquet and this is what it looked like in the end.

Now this photo does not do these flowers justice one bit. The lilies were all closed when they arrived, so it makes it look bare. Within a day or two they were opened up and the bouquet was just gorgeous. And talk about long lasting... these flowers lasted for about 2 weeks! I couldn't believe it! I was so amazed and oh so happy because I got to show off that gorgeous bouquet and vase to everyone that stopped by!

This photo on the left is pretty much what the bouquet looked like after the rest of the flowers bloomed. It was just absolutely breathtaking and I couldn't help but smile every time I walked past it and looked at that vase! I am absolutely smitten with it. I will definitely use it again.... if the Man ever buys me some flowers! He thinks the ones in my garden count.. {shakes head} clueless!

Buy It!

You can buy the mauve-o-lous! bouquet for $39.99 and add a regular glass vase for $9.99 or a vase expression for $14.99. I seriously recommend the vase expression because it adds a whole new experience and touch to the gift. It gives them something to hang on to and treasure forever! That's really what makes YouFloral unique from other floral companies. It's a truly personal experience!

TruKid Sunny Days SPF 30+ Natural Sunscreen Review & Giveaway

“Consumers are buzzing about the best products to use for their child’s skin, and with a new study released by the Environmental Working Group about the potential dangers of sunscreen and Vitamin A, many people are left feeling confused about what products to use,” says Jennifer Adams Bunkers, CEO of TruKid. “We have always offered skincare and sunscreen products that are certified organic, SLS phathalate, 1-4 dioxane, BPA and paraben free, offering excellent UVA/UVB protection SPF. We are thrilled to now announce that our NEW TruKid Sunny Days SPF 30+ Lotion does NOT contain Vitamin A. We want parents to know that TruKid makes safe products that families can feel good about.”

My kids spend a lot of time in the sun, so sunscreen is important to us. I would much rather use one that I know I can trust rather than just grab any old tube on the store shelf. That's why I was excited for my family to try TruKid Sunny Days SPF 30+ Natural Sunscreen. I knew that I would be able to feel good letting them use this product.

We've been using TruKid Sunny Days SPF 30+ Natural Sunscreen for a few weeks now and it works great. It's easy to apply and smells decent. Of course it gave them good protection from the sun too.

TruKid also carries body wash, shampoo and other products for kids. we received a couple sample sizes of conditioner and body wash. The TruKid Bubbly Body Wash is clear and has a fun scent for the kids. It bubbles up too, which they just think is the coolest!

Samsung M340 from Common Cents Mobile Review

In this day and age everyone needs a cell phone. Let's face it. They're just easier. You know, we don't even have a land line in our house. We haven't had one for years. There's really no use for one for us, so we just use our cell phones.

Well now the kids are older and Big Bro wants to call his friends here and there. I really don't want a land line because of the added expense and just basically because we wouldn't get much use out of it. It would be a pointless expense to me.

When I found out about Common Cents Mobile and was asked to do a review, I thought it would be a great idea. I figured a prepaid cell phone would be great for the kids because I could really monitor their usage. They've also been wanting to go to the park two blocks away by themselves and being the over protective mom that I am, I always say no. Well now, we have let them go a couple of times because they have a phone to take with them. I can call them and they can get in touch with me in case something were to happen.

We received the Samsung M340, which is one of the nicer phones I've seen available for a prepaid one. Here's a little bit of information about it.

"Camera phone without the contract. The handy Samsung M340 features an external display, text and picture messaging, Bluetooth®, and USB. With Common Cents, you can get this stylisth flip phone without emptying your bank account."

With Common Cents Mobile, you actually spend much less money that other prepaid plans. Common Cents Mobile charges 7 cents per minute with Round Down Minutes. That means that if you talk for 1 minute and 46 seconds, you will be charged for 1 minute instead of 2 minutes. They have different Pay As You Go Plans starting at just $20 per month.

There are also different phone options. You can get more inexpensive basic phones or even one you can go online with.

The only complaint that I have is the hell I went through activating it. I did it online and apparently the website crashed when I was doing it, so it was a huge mess. However, I haven't had any more issues since those problems have been taken care of. In fact, my dad is thinking about getting the same phone and plan.

Aonother Fun Filled Weekend and Red Neck Yacht Club

Last week, we only had plans for a birthday party on Saturday. I thought to myself "Great, we finally get a weekend to relax and just chill, no big plans." Of course that just couldn't be so! Thursday I found out that the Man's "uncle" that he hasn't seen or talked to in 16 years would be coming for a visit and we would be having a big ole family cook out at our house on Saturday. I had to cancel the birthday party, plan and make the food, all that fun stuff.

The party did turn out great. Our yard was packed. Good food + good friends/family = Great time. Although somehow I ended up with 3 extra kids. Just one time, it would be nice if I could pawn my kids off on the other parents instead of the other way around. It seems I always have someone else's kids.

We made plans to test drive the neighbor's dad's pontoon boat on Sunday. It turned into a whole group ordeal and we ended up having 6 boats out there! The neighbor and I dubbed ourselves the "Red neck Yacht Club" because we were just sitting around with so many boats around and people were standing in the water. It was pretty funny. Here's a shot while we're waiting to dock one of the boats.

Here we are anchored by a little island in the middle of the lake. Everyone got out and played in the water or traveled to the other boats. People kept coming and going taking boat rides and tubing. I never did tube, but the kids did for the first time. They had a blast!

There's Lil Man on the tube. He had so much fun! He is totally my little fish boy. This kid just loves the water!

Oh no, here comes the Seaweed Monster!

We really had such a great time. It was so much fun having such a big group of people on the water. I totally want to do it again soon!

Video Baking Cookies in My Frigidaire Stove

With all the talk I've done about my stove, I'm sure you'd like to see it in action. I'm going to do just that for you today. I was just a little nervous since this is my first video ever done, so please bear with me.

Frigidaire1 from Melissa Willms on Vimeo.

In that video, I showed you how much room is in there. I could have easily fit four cookie sheets in there, but unfortunately I only have two. However, I have never been able to bake two sheets full of cookies at the same time without one set being under done or over done.

Untitled from Melissa Willms on Vimeo.

Those cookies turned out so delicious! I have actually never baked 2 pans of cookies at the same time in this oven, so I didn't know what to expect. It does cook everything pretty evenly, so I thought it would do good. I just didn't really expect that good. I can't wait until December when I start making Christmas cookies. It's going to take so much less time!

I want to take a moment to thank Frigidaire and Mom Central for my stove. My family loves it. The Man tells everyone about it and all of my friend want one! Cooking and baking has been much easier, faster and all around more enjoyable since I got the stove. The stove top is so versatile, I can cook with large or small posts and pans. I can adjust the burner size. The oven fits so much and cooks frozen pizzas better than any oven I have ever used. I love the fact that the microwave mounts right above it because I don't have any counter space. Thanks for making products to help simplify our lives!

I wrote this review while participating in a Test Drive Campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Frigidaire and received a Frigidaire Range/Microwave to facilitate my review.

Space Bag Review & Clean That Closet Challenge Shout Out

I love our house to pieces. I would happily stay here until we find our dream house some day down the road. However, one small complaint about this house is the closet space. It is almost obsolete. I actually keep some of my clothes and all of my shoes in the hall closet because there isn't any room in mine.

Lucky for me and my poor closets, I received an assortment of Space Bag products to try out. I received a tote and some bags in different sizes.

I couldn't believe how easy these were to use. You simply put whatever you want in them {and they sure fit a lot!} and just vacuum out the air. You wouldn't believe how small the package gets after that! It's really unbelievable!

I packed up blankets, winter clothes and coats and now all that stuff is taking up just a fraction of my closet space! I cannot believe how much room these bags saved me. I think I may just be in love!

I also got some To Go Bags that I can't wait to use on our next trip! Packing for four people can definitely rack up a lot of room, so these will definitely come in handy. The best part is that you don't have to vacuum the air out! Just roll them up and voila!

Space Bag is hosting a Clean That Closet Challenge. The Clean That Closet Challenge encourages any one with a messy closet to enter the contest. The grand prize winner will receive a $1,000 gift certificate to Bed, Bath & Beyond, a private consultation with a professional organizer, and an assortment of Space Bag products to organize their home!

I don't know about you, but I could sure use some help getting organized! It seems no matter what I do, there is still clutter. I just can't seem to get rid of it! So, if you have that same problem, be sure to enter the The Clean That Closet Challenge!

Step into Summer - Barhyte Specialty Foods Saucy Mama Prize Pack Review & Giveaway - 2 Winners! {CLOSED}

"Inventiveness like Mom’s is a family heritage. Way back in the eighteenth century, Jacobus Barhyte, a Southern German immigrant and pioneer settler of Yaddo, – now known as Saratoga Springs, New York – created our original Sweet ‘n Sour Mustard Sauce. This original recipe was passed down through the generations and even traveled west over the Oregon Trail. Back then, Jacobus’s name was spelled “Barheyt,” but when he enlisted in the American Forces for the Saratoga Campaign of 1777, General Gates’s secretary recorded the name as “Barhyte.” Patriotic pride has kept us using that spelling ever since."

We love to cook and try new recipes around here. It's fun to spice {pun intended} it up a bit and cook or serve things differently from time to time.

One of our favorite things to try is marinades. There are so many different ones on the market, for all different types of meat. Well we were recently able to try a few of the Saucy Mama marinades from Barhyte Specialty Foods. I used the Saucy Mama's Cracked Pepper Marinade on our steaks last week and they turned out absolutely delicious! I'm not one to use steak sauce, so whatever I do put on my steaks must reap the flavor. I'm happy to say that this marinade definitely did the job well!

Lil Man is a hot wing nut ball. This kid could probably live on hot wings if I'd let him! My mom used to make him homemade hot wings all the time. Now that she's not around much, I've been learning how to make them. I used the Saucy Mama's Hot Wing Sauce the last time I made them and everyone raved over them. He told me they were the best hot wings I've ever made for him!

Barhyte Specialty Foods carries much more than just wing sauce and marinades though. They have mustard, stuffed olives, dressings and so much more. They even sell gift baskets. They also have a bunch of easy recipes posted on their website.

The Giveaway

Two lucky ducks will win a Prize Pack full of marinades, wing sauce and mustard from Saucy Mama!

KIDStrong Review

About KIDStrong® "Our mission is to be the world’s number one provider of positive energy to kids everywhere. That’s why behind every great-tasting sip are KIDStrong experts who are fully dedicated to the unique needs of growing children. We stay on top of the latest obesity trends, are acutely aware of today’s busy lifestyles, and are genuinely interested in providing families with a convenient, healthy option. At KIDStrong, scientifically-formulated goodness is with you, every step of the way."

I am usually pretty strict about what my kids drink. They very seldom get soda. In fact, usually the only time they get it is when we're at a party and that's the only thing there is to drink.

I was recently introduced to KIDStrong and I was anxious to see what my kids thought of it. I received both grape and orange flavors for them to try.

Of course, they wanted to try them right away when they arrived. However, I'm not big on warm drinks and didn't want to subject them to that either, so I threw them in the fridge and let them chill for a bit.

When they finally were able to try it, they thought it was delicious! Big Bro's favorite was grape and Lil Man is indecisive as usual!

With so many stories in the news and elsewhere about childhood obesity, it's great to know that there are healthier drink alternatives out there.

Book Review: Sweet Misfortune by Kevin Milne & 3 Copy Giveaway {CLOSED}

Sweet Misfortune
A Novel

by Kevin Alan Milne

"Sophie owns a chocolate shop where she sells Misfortune Cookies-dipped in bitter chocolate they contain messages she handwrites each day such as "Your car seems fine now, but just wait...it will eventually be a source of frustration and unexpected delay." What starts as a gimmick, turns into a surprise hit with customers. But when her ex-fiancée moves back to their small Washington town, he is surprised at how bitter and unhappy Sophie has become. He proposes a bet--she must place an ad in the paper that simply states "Wanted: Happiness." If at least 100 people respond, proving happiness isn't a myth, she agrees to a date with him. If not, he'll leave her alone forever. Sophie is convinced she'll win, but fate has other ideas when a reporter at the paper is intrigued by the ad as a story and posts it in newspapers across the country."
Sweet Misfortune is unlike the books I usually read. Those book are usually full of crime, murder and suspense. However, Sweet Misfortune did have the suspense I crave and kept me wanting to know more through each and every turn of a page.

From the moment I opened Sweet Misfortune, I knew that Sophie and Garrett were meant to be together. I knew that their love was true, undying, never ending... no matter how much she insisted it wasn't. Though I did not know just how much until I got through the entire book.

Do you believe in destiny? I do. In some ways, I see destiny in my very own relationship. I think Kevin Alan Milne believes in destiny too and showed just that when he wrote Sweet Misfortune. You see, destiny is just not one simple act or event. It is a series of events that lead up to it, but begins sooner than you could possibly imagine. I think we were all born with a specific destiny in a sense. We just have to find it.

Now listen to me just going on and on about destiny. This is supposed to be a book review, isn't it? Not me finding something within myself, right? Well, it kind of goes hand in hand. Sweet Misfortune really did touch me deep down and make me think about the bigger things in life. It was an excellent book and a must read for any romantic at heart!

Buy It!

You can buy Sweet Misfortune for $13.59 at Amazon.com.
