I?m going to start by saying that my reasons for introducing potty training to my 2 year old are somewhat selfish. I love cloth diapering, really I do. But?having three in dipes at once is a bit overwhelming. By no means am I rushing my 2 year old- that thought is actually somewhat comical considering that is the one that sets the tone and pace of pretty much whatever he wants to anyhow.
I cannot remember what made me think he was ready last summer- but something did and I ran out and bought him a potty. I was SURE that it would be a huge hit and before I knew it he would sit in the morning watching Sesame Street taking care of his business. Well?let’s just say that the potty terrified him and he literally sat on it on TWO occasions ? and ONLY with his pants on. Thus, I shelved the idea of potty training for a while.
However, a couple of weeks ago I was given the opportunity to review one of these super cute Safety 1st potties. I thought, what the heck. I?ll give it a try. Once it arrived, I took the box up to my son’s room and he very excitedly announced that it was indeed an ?Ooh ooh Aah Ahh? (monkey). Once out of the box, I swear on my life- he KISSED it. He actually kissed the cute little round monkey?
At that point I was pretty darn excited about it since he just showed this potty more attention than the other one that we had had for almost a year. When my husband came home from work, he excitedly showed it off to him and even sat on it (pants on) to show that he wasn?t afraid. Wow. I?m sold.

Details about the potty from the Safety 1st site:
Make potty training fun with the Monkey Potty from Safety 1st! The clever monkey design encourages training and this 2-in-1 potty includes a trainer seat to make the eventual transition to the big kid’s toilet easier for your child.
- 2-in-1 potty and trainer seat
- Easy-to-remove bowl
I really like how the potty opens and closes on the hinges- and seems a little less ‘potty like’. The fact also that the seat can transfer over to the REAL potty, is also great. No need to buy another seat.
Here are a couple other new round potties that are just as adorable:
BUY IT: You can purchase your own Safety 1st round potty directly from Safety 1st for $19.99 and up.
