I remember being a little girl and transforming my towel into an empress robe, a wizard’s cape and angel’s wings. Backpacks became rocket packs that made my siblings and I soar through the air in sneaker moon boots. There is never an end to what a child can come up with, nothing that cannot be imagined to be more than what it seems and if that essence of childhood can be packaged into a beautiful place that vividly displayed the materials of whimsicality… it would be Kidorable. A fun, bright and lively shop that takes the ordinary objects of our childrens lives and elaborates the imagination of them.
I was able to review one of the new Kidorable Towels, the Dinosaur Towel. What fun! It came comfortably packaged in it’s own cute plastic bag (that now holds dino toys) and the towel was folded into the shape of a mini dinosaur. The cloth ribbon that held the tag read their logo and even that was recycled into a hair ribbon. Impressed with the packaging alone I couldn’t wait to unroll the Dinosaur towel and pretended he had grown into a large Dinosaur as I spread it out. It was a good size, having chosen the M 3-6 yrs and had more than enough room for an always growing 2 year old boy. The hands and feet have little folds for fingers and toes so little boys can roar properly with cloth claws, although my son was more of a sleepy Dinosaur after his bath.
What I love about these towels is not that they are just good soft cotton towels but that they play into that world just beyond what we can see. It works like a magical cape that once planted over the shoulders the house becomes a jungle and the carpet the seas on which little Dinosaurs feast on books and all sorts of odd objects. When the day comes that the towel becomes just a little too small for my growing boy I know it’ll just be a favorite play costume and that makes it all the more special, to know that it can go beyond its typical use. From Fairy’s and Mermaids to Frogs and Pirates, there are so many wonderful kids towels to capture the delight of your child while of course keeping them warm and dry from the great seas and monsters (or bathtubs and rubber duckies).
