“Everything can change in an instant ? and take a lifetime to unravel. When Mac McDonald loses his son in an accident, the ensuing 17 years of bitterness and pain erodes his love for his family and leaves him angry with God ? and just about everyone else. Mac’s rage stonewalls his career in the police department and makes for a combustible situation when he’s partnered with Sam Wright, a rising star on the force?who happens to be a part-time pastor and a loving family man.
Can they somehow join forces to help one another when it’s impossible for either of them to look past their differences?especially the most obvious one? Every day, we have the opportunity to rebuild relationships and heal deep wounds by extending and receiving God’s grace. Offer THE GRACE CARD ? and never underestimate the power of God’s love.”
The moment I started watching The Grace Card, I was intrigued by the storyline. A mother, a father and a son, all living the same life, but yet so far apart. The father, a cop with a bitter attitude towards everything. The mother, a fragile woman just trying to get through and understand. The son, your typical troubled teen with nowhere to turn, besides some punk friends.
It was such a moving story from the start. I couldn’t help but hate the father in a sense because he just seemed like such a jerk. After watching and learning more though, I began to see why. Why he was so bitter, so angry and so defensive. Tragedy strikes and it’s hard to let go of. I know this oh too well with our recent loss. You feel a sense of blame, even if of no one but yourself sometimes. Life is cruel, unjust and unfair.
I won’t lie and say that this movie didn’t bring me to tears because it certainly did on a number of occasions. I am a believer and I do believe wholeheartedly that things do happen for a reason and that certain people are brought into our lives for a reason. This movie proves to show that I am not the only person that sees life this way.
I saw a goodness and understanding in The Grace Card that I wish we could see more often in our everyday lives. Too bad with the majority “Every man for himself” mentality of this world, we may never be able to.
The Grace Card was a touching and heartwarming movie and I thought it was wonderful! I definitely recommend checking it out and don’t be surprised if you shed a tear or two.
