Handstand Kids Cooking Accessories Review & Giveaway {CLOSED}

"The goal of the Handstand Kids is to create a global community of children,” says author and creator Yvette Garfield. “We want to educate children about the importance of healthy and nutritious foods, while at the same time teaching them how to cook with these ingredients.” She goes on to say, “In addition to introducing kids to recipes from around the world, the cookbooks also encourage children to use their new skills to get involved in their community. Each book exposes children to a different charity and shows them how they can use their new cooking abilities to help others."

Did y'all know I like cooking and baking? It's not like I keep it a big secret! And now, Sonshine can cook and bake with me with less mess and more cuteness thanks to Handstand Kids new line of cooking apparel! They've rolled out adorable, 100% cotton and machine washable (yes!) kids cooking apron, chef hat and oven mitt.

Each accessory is colorfully printed with fruits, vegetables and foods from around the world. For Sonshine, this is a great opportunity to learn new foods or point them out as we bake or prep for dinner. As he grows older, they will be great images to spring board a conversation while cooking. Think along the lines of explaining where eggs come from as we crack one into a cupcake mix!
The chef hat is almost too cute for words. It has a velcro enclosure so as Sonshine grows, we can adjust to his big head. (heehee)
The oven mitt is one size, but perfect for little kids and older. He'll grow into it, but when does an over sized item not look cute on a kid? It also has a loop to hang up in the kitchen next to mommy (or daddy's) own mitt.
The chef apron has a drawstring that loops around the neck and then down to tie around the waist. Simply pull the string to adjust to your kids size. Right now, it covers my (almost) two year old neck to toe, so, clean up is a breeze! I just throw the messy apron in with a load of laundry. The colors did not bleed and kept as vibrant as when I first received the items. The apron also has large red pockets on the front. I took a wooden spoon and stuck it inside. He loved it and was able to locate the picture of the spoon on  his apron and oven mitt.
I'm enjoying these adorable cooking accessorizes as much as my kid! They really have made being in the kitchen that much more fun and cute!

The Handstand Kids group also has an array of children's cookbook kits on their website to help broaden your families palates. You can also meet the group of five Handstand Kids! Each has a distinctive personality and background, so no kid feels left out. The also help educate kids on differences!

Always let my daughter help choose the dinner then she picks what dish she wants to make!

My baby is still young, but I love to let her smell all of the cooking smells and play with the measuring tools.

Right now, my grandson is still really young, but he helps me by throwing wrappers away in the trash can, and if I drop an ice cube he will pick it up and put it in the sink!

My son likes to help out in the kitchen. He just turned 4. I made him a chef's hat from paper which he colored himself and he always wears it whenever we have a project going.

I bake/create/decorate cakes and my granddaughter thinks it's so neat. She always helps me in the kitchen.

I let my kids measure dry ingredients with me and help me stir. My daugther also helps with reading the recipe.

when my girls were young I started them out with a sink of soapy water and let them wash dishes (so they thought playing in the water was cool)

I have them read the recipe and help measure out the ingredients, as we go along. If we are making cookies, I make extra and have them make animals out of the dough.

I let my daughter help stir, pour things, and help me decide about decorating when we bake.

I have recently started inviting my grandchildren into the kitchen to help prepare meals. So far we have made mummy hot dogs, spider hot dogs, cat whisker hot dogs, mini english muffin pizzas/

I Swap real dough for play dough!

I like baking with my son but, when I am making more complicated recipes that I only make once a year, his help can get frustrating. Instead I get cup cake liners, cookie cutters and pans I am not using and let him make his own play dough treats while I make real ones.

I let them help whenever possible, we discuss good choices verses bad ones and why. We all make the meals for the week but I choose which nights we have them.

I taught my 13 year old how to cook for herself a couple years ago and I let the younger ones help with mixing, cracking eggs and measuring.

My kids help with everything in the kitchen! I think it is important for them to learn to prepare food, where it comes from and math skills when measuring!

My daughter stands in a chair & watches me cook & I also let her "help" me blend cake mix & mashed potatoes with the mixer.

Charlie loves to be in the kitchen with me. Sometimes she'll bring her play mixer in while I'm using mine. I also give her a good amount of dough to separate and roll into three ropes and help her braid. Lately we've begun teaching her how to chop apples with a small knife. Scary, but good learning! I just have to breathe ;)
