Tomorrow as you sit around the table with your family, enjoying dinner and sweets, watching the children run to and fro through the rooms and being thankful for the small moments in life that you get with your loved ones that could make it, some of you might also have on your minds those that couldn’t – those that you maybe haven’t seen in many many years.
Archives and Whitepages have come together in thoughtfulness of the many people who have lost family and this Holiday season they’ve created the Run and Hug Contest wherein they are giving away two all expense paid trips for two family members to reunite; all you have to do is tell them your story.
To enter you need to submit a 500 or less word description of your favorite memory of a long lost relative with whom you would like to be reunited with an image that best illustrates your story (a photo of your relative, or of you at the time when your memory took place, your family crest, etc.). Once it is approved it will be voted on by the public, so you are encouraged to share your story in any way you can. The story with the most votes will win the reunion. You can submit your story today until December 19th, at which time voting will end. The winner will be notified by December 23rd, just in time for Christmas! And the reunion will take place after the New Year.
If your story receives the most votes, you and a companion will win two all expenses paid trips to reunite during the holiday season. You will also be given $1,000 in cash to make your trip all that more special. Cash prizes of $500 and $200 will also be awarded to the runner-up and second runner-up. All top ten contestants will receive year-long subscriptions to Archives.com to further explore their family history.
