I love desserts. Probably more than I should. I love making my own and I love grabbing some pre-made ones from the grocery store.  My favorite type of desserts are cakes and pastries, so I was so excited to try Delizza Patisseries! Just a little over a year ago, my I hosted my best friend's bridal shower and amongst the copious amounts of food I made, I also snagged a box of Delizza Patisserie Belgium Mini Eclairs. They were an item I remember seeing at the grocery store, in the freezer section, but, I never had a good reason to purchase them. Striving to be the perfect hostess, I knew the cute little eclairs would add that little oooh I wanted at the table! Not to mention, they looked so delicious! I was so busy with hosting, chatting, game playing (and checking in on my then 15 month old) that I did not get a chance to try even one of the eclairs. They were gone before the desserts I baked were gone and I'm not a shlep in the kitchen! I just knew these delightful pastries had to tastes as good as they looked!

Well, as fate would have it, I would finally have a reason to grab another box! We moved into our house two days before Christmas knowing that we would have a full house to feed in forty-eight hours. Yikes! So, to help with the time, I picked up a box of the Belgium Mini Eclairs. I just needed to try them! After ten months of anticipation, I was not disappointed!

After allowing the eclairs to thaw, I just grabbed one straight from the box and dove in! WOW! You could not tell that these little treats had once been frozen. The pastry dough is light and airy with a lovely buttery taste. The filling is thick, sweet and creamy and the dough holds a generous amount. On top, the eclair is covered in a coating of chocolate, not too sweet. The icing does a wonderful job of complimenting the dough and filling without overpowering it!

In polite company, these are the perfect two-bite addition after a heavy meal. After family left, my husband just threw whole ones into his mouth and Sonshine just ate the tops off. I, on the other hand, savored each bite, wondering how the three other flavors were and how I could pass these off as home made the next time I needed to bring a dessert some where. (I'm kidding! No, really! These are too yummy not to share that they were once in the frozen food section!)
