Fitness Friday- Bengay Review {CLOSED}

Pin It
One part of exercise that is inevitable, is the aches and pains that come from stretching your body farther than it is accustomed to. Those achy muscles are often a sign that you are working hard, but they can certainly be hard to deal with (and can sometimes make it hard to push through and keep going). While you should never ignore your pain completely (if it persists, please see a doctor or other medical professional who can help you determine whether you have an injury) simple aches and pains can be temporarily eased by using Bengay products.

Topical pain relief has come a long way over the years. I remember my High School track days when you would walk through the stands smelling the overwhelming fragrance of topical pain relievers. To be honest, back in the day I never even thought to try it, but I certainly remember the smell.

My first experience with topical pain relief was this summer while running my third Ragnar Relay (this is my all time favorite type of race, if you have the opportunity to participate in one near you, I would HIGHLY recommend it!). I really hurt my hip during my second leg of the race and it really tightened up. I found the physical therapists trailer when I was done and had them help me with the pain, and the first thing they used was a topical pain reliever while massaging deeply into the muscle. I was amazed at how much the pain reliever helped not only make my hip feel a little better (I had really hurt it, I ended up fighting the injury for months, so nothing was going to take the pain away completely) but really helped the massage work better. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that while it still had a mild menthol fragrance, I wasn't overwhelmed by it as I had been back in my High School days.

Not all of us can go to a physical therapists office as soon as we have a muscle ache or pain, but thanks to Bengay products we can get similar topical pain relief to help you get through the aches and pains between visits or while recovering from pushing yourself just a little too far.

I was sent two products to sample from Bengay. The first of which is Bengay Cold Therapy

Bengay Cold Therapy features:
-the same technology used by physical therapists and chiropractors
-the only brand made with PRO-COOL™ Technology
-Provides a fast-acting blast of cold

I really liked the cooling feel that you get from this product. I was surprised by how cool it actually felt.

The second product I received was the Bengay Pain-Relief + Massage

Bengay Pain Relief + Massage features:
-No mess, twist turn cap allows you to control the product flow
-Vanishing scent that disappears in minutes, making it preferable for daytime use

The massaging nubs on the lid of the product really helped work tired muscles. I loved the deeper massage feel that I got by using the massaging tip to work the pain relieving gel into my tired, achy legs. This is a product that will definitely be making it's way into my Ragnar bag this year (and I will be keeping it in supply in my running/exercise bag year round!).
