Fitness Friday: Workout tips for 2012 with celebrity fitness trainer Kathy Kaehler (w/ GIVEAWAY) {CLOSED}

Pin It
Kath Kaehler is an author, spokesperson, mom and celebrity fitness trainer. She spent 13 years as the fitness correspondent for the Today Show and has trained Julia Roberts (with whom she still works out every week), Jennifer Lopez, Rob Lowe and more.  She has also created the Sunday Set-up Club, a program designed to help real people and families eat, fresh, nutritional meals.

On February 17th, The Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors Association (ICMAD) will host their inaugural health and wellness event, Get With It…Get Healthy, in Newport Beach California which will benefit the national charitable organization, Look Good…Feel Better®. There, Kathy will host three health-centric sessions to demonstrate how to stay active without fad dieting or crazy regimens.

“Some people love to work out at the gym and they feel that being in that environment motivates them. Now, there is nothing wrong with that and whatever works for you is best. My philosophy has always been you don’t need to work out in a gym to get effective results. As a working wife and mother, I get my exercise where I can get it. Below are some tips that will really make a difference and you won’t even notice any effort being put into it. Some are so simple, it will make you say, wow, that is so easy...that is my motto~ It is so easy to incorporate health in your life,” says Kathy

Here are Kathy's tips to help you stick with your fitness goals this year:

1. EVERYONE wants to know what will be the workout of the year...2012 is year the walk. Add on the weight and count all the steps. Increasing your body weight by 2-10 pounds will incinerate calories while strengthening muscles and bones. Do it 3 times a week and you will see the results and you may even graduate to speed walking or running.

2. Easy Tip: Create a schedule of the days you are going to work-out and stick to it. Tape it to the fridge as a daily reminder! You don’t have to work out every night, so work out Monday and Tuesday, Take Wednesday night off and maybe do a 30-minute walk after dinner.

3. Easy Tip: The second you get up cut a lemon in half and squeeze it into a glass. Fill with water and drink. The benefits of drinking lemon water are endless (helps with bloating and cleanses the body).

4. Easy Tip: Pack your gym clothes the night before and leave it at the front door, so you CANNOT forget.

5. Have no time? Celebrities do it, fit people do it and now you should do it. The Plank - one of the best ways to strengthen your core with nothing but yourself and the floor. On your hands or forearms, hold your body straight like a board. Build up so you can hold the plank for a minute. Everyone has a minute!

6. My favorite anytime snack – and so easy to make…take an avocado, slice it in half. Take a knife and slice cubes in the shell . Sprinkle a teaspoon of balsamic vinegar and a pinch of sea salt. It is so good for you and will fill you up at the office or after a workout.
