BlackSocks.com began back when its founder, Samy Liechti, a recent college graduate starting his career in marketing, was invited to a business dinner with important clients. He rushed home and quickly prepared for this meeting, dressing in business attire and grabbing what he thought were two black socks. Happy with his appearance and confident that he was ready for this important night in his career.
The dinner was with Japanese business executives, and when he arrived for dinner he was asked to remove his shoes (following the Japanese tradition) and to his horror he discovered that not only did his socks NOT match, but that his right big toe was protruding from a hole! He was embarrassed and his lack of polish diminished his standing with the other dinner guests. An opportunity to impress important clients was lost for this young, emerging business man and all because of his holey, mis-matched socks.
The first Sockscription was born. Samy developed a line of fine, high quality socks that will last, but if something happens (like a hole in the right toe) a new pair would be on its way soon!
My husband received a pair of their classic black calf socks to try. The first thing that impressed me about Black Socks was the fact that their socks come in better size ranges. Instead of one size that fits a giant range of shoe sizes, their sock sizes fit a small range of shoe sizes (two to two and half shoe sizes). This allows you to get a better, more accurate fit in a sock. As a girl with larger foot, I wish I could find this in women’s socks! A sock that fits well is so much more comfortable than one that has either too much fabric hanging out at your toes or heel or one that you have to pull and tug to get the heel in place. The socks themselves are very comfortable. I am impressed with both the quality of fit and fabric.
