Protect-A-Bub 4-Season Weather Shield Review

The year…1997.

The place…Down Under.

The dilemma…an Australian mom, concerned about exposing her “bub” to the harsh Australian sun is unable to find adequate UV protection for her baby when they’re out and about with the stroller. The stroller canopy isn't adequate, blankets draped over the canopy retain heat (when they don’t blow or slip off), and her pediatrician has recommended that she refrain from applying sunscreen to her baby’s sensitive skin. What’s a mom to do?

Living in Northern Wisconsin it is not uncommon to experience all 4 seasons within one week. We just had our first real snowstorm in Green Bay this past weekend and it's already March. Things with our weather have definitely been crazy.

Being the parent of a newborn (better yet, a preemie newborn) can make being out and about in the winter difficult. With the little ones, you always want to do your best to shield them from the elements that Mother Nature is throwing at you at that moment in time. My biggest battle with taking Ellie out is that it has been a cold and wet (rainy) winter and the last thing I want is for her to get sick.

To help protect Ellie from our weather, we enlisted the help of the Protect-A-Bub 4-season Weather Shield for our stroller. This shield offers protection from sun, rain, wind and bugs all in one! There is a large mesh viewing window that helps to reduce glare and protect your child from bugs while offering partial coverage. If you want you child to be fully coverage, there is a UPF 50+ flap that covers the mesh opening allowing for full UV protection. For those days when you are experiencing ran or heavy wind, the shield converts easily into a rain/wind panel just by zipping off a section and zipping on another.

I'll admit, it did take me a few minutes to figure out how to put it on the stroller, but once I got the hang of it every thing else just fell into place.

Overall, we are very impressed with the protection that this cover offers to our little one while still ensuring that she is easily accessible. The cover is available in either black or stone gray and also in single or twin sizes; it also comes with a nice storage bag making it easy to put it away when you do not need it.
