Memorial Day weekend is the start of Summer for most people and that is definitely true for our family. Each and every year we do something fun and exciting with the family whether it be camping or just having a good ole’ backyard bash! Since The Man and I are getting married in July, we chose to do away with the Memorial Day camping trip this year. Instead we invited a few friends/family over for a weekend cookout to celebrate the holiday and what our not honored enough heroes have done for our country!
I was one of the bloggers selected to do a ConAgra #BackyardBash, so I chose this weekend to do so. I made a few of the delicious recipes that ConAgra Foods provided me with and shared them with my guests. As they say, not all tomatoes are created equal, so check out this fun infographic that ConAgra created for me to share with you.
I shared this inographic along with some other fun activities and of course delicious food with our party guests. Along with our good friends and family, we planted some tomato seeds, created a time capsule and buried it in the backyard, ate, drank and had a merry time!

We really just planned a small party with just a handful of family and friends. Over the course of the week, others heard about it and our party ended up being pretty large by the end of the day/night. By the time the party ended, we had to have had at least 30 people here! It really was a great start to the Summer though, that’s for sure!
In the photo above, you can see some of the yummy food that we had at our party. I made a few of the recipes that ConAgra sent along in my kit including Greek Pasta Salad, Chocolate Chip Cookies and Taco-Roni. Of course they were all a hit, but the Greek Pasta Salad went over especially well. You can find all of these recipes and more at ReadySetEat.com.
My favorite moment of the party was definitely the time capsule. It was so fun to look at all of the photos that everyone brought and read everyone’s dreams for the future.
We gathered quite an assortment of photos and little notes. I can’t wait until we dig the time capsule up in 5 years. The Man’s mom and sister even said that they definitely want to be here when we do!

Overall, our party was a great success and everyone really enjoyed the food. Weekends like this really make you realize how important it is to get together with family and friends and make the memories that will last a lifetime! Here’s to a great Summer ahead!
