Backyard BBQ's and Home Gardening and Softball Games, oh my. That is a lot of Summertime fun in the sun. I love being out in the Summer sun, I really do. It is just a little more difficult for me to enjoy now. I have been near-sighted since the fourth grade and have worn glasses for that long as well. I am now, I am told, as near-sighted as a person can be. This is complicated by side-effects from the small pharmacy worth of medications I take daily. I experience dry eye, blurry vision and sun sensitivity among others. I have tried prescription sun glasses and transitional lenses, but I just don't care for them. My favorite option for fighting face scorching and constant squinting is a great visor.
I prefer a visor to the full sun hat because the headrest of my power chair tends to make a full brimmed hat feel uncomfortable and awkward. I received the Scala Raffia Sun Visor from Dorfman Pacific to review. This style is available in 11 different colors, from the fashion basics to eye popping accent colors. I decided to go with the black, thinking a wardrobe staple would be the best role for my new Summer hat to play and I love the contrast of the natural raffia against the black cotton fabric.
The absolute best feature of this hat is the 4 inch brim, it is by far the longest and widest brim I have ever found on a visor and I love it. They are one size fits most and have a very long velcro backstrap on it, so you can adjust and readjust to get the perfect fit every time. Since I wear my hair differently at times and that makes a big difference in the fit of a hat, I tend to 'refit' it frequently.
I will be sporting my visor on all the sunny days ahead!
