Did you know that your kids could lose up to two and a half months of learning throughout the summer? This can make for a very rough start to the school year for kids, but as parents we can prevent this with just a little learning each day. Carson-Dellosa can help you bridge the summer learning gap with tools designed to encourage learning throughout the summer. This will also make the transition back to school easier.
Carson-Dellosa's Summer Bridge Activities makes summer learning easy for parents and fun for kids. Each workbook bridges the gap between the grade your child was in and the grade that he or she will be in. The activities in each workbook will review the skills your child had mastered in their previous grade, preview skills they will learn in their new grade and prevent summer learning loss.
The three sections in this workbook correspond to the three months of traditional summer vacation. Each section begins with a goal-setting activity, a word list, and information for parents about the fitness and character development activities located throughout the section. Bonus extension activities that encourage outdoor learning, science experiments, and social studies exercises are located at the end of each section.
Stickers, flash cards, and a colorful award certificate are also included. 160 full-color pages.

There are so many things I like about this program, I love the format, the cards, the incentive charts, and the key to the whole program - parental involvement.
I love the format of the workbooks. The three sections that correspond to the three months of summer vacation, breaks down into two pages a day. We didn't get our kit on the first day of summer vacation, so we did more than two pages a day some days we did four pages some days we did six. We just did what we felt comfortable with.
The cards. The flash cards are my kids' favorite part. They have riddles, they have jokes, they have interesting facts, math and mind-bogglers. The kit comes with two decks of 79 full- color cards, held together by a corner grommet. You know that terrible hour as your trying to cook dinner and the kids are all fussy and you never have enough hands, this is my favorite time to pull out these cards, especially since there is two decks.
Parental Involvement. The key to this whole program is parental involvement. That is what makes it so successful. The more involved you are the more your kids will get out of it. We use our summer bridges activity kit every day and we will continue using it until school starts and I look forward to seeing if the transition back to school is easier this year.
Buy It! You can buy the Summer Bridge Activities™ Workbooks for $14.95 and the Summer Bridge Activities™ Activity Cards for $8.95.
