“Good For Anything”
Meat Sauce Recipe
This meat sauce is good for a number of different dishes and can be made ahead of time. Sprinkle it over pasta for a hearty meat sauce, use it as the base for a meaty chili, or throw it on a bun with diced onions and shredded carrots for a homemade sloppy joe!
Ingredients
- 12 oz can of tomato paste
- 8 oz can of tomato sauce (unsalted, non-seasoned)
- 1 pound ground meat (I used beef)
- 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
- 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1/2 lemon; juiced
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- In a bowl, mix your tomato paste and tomato sauce together, set aside.
- In a large skillet, brown your beef (or other meat) and drain.
- Season with onion, garlic, paprika, seasoned salt, salt, and pepper.
- Stir and fold to cover meat with seasonings, allow to simmer for five minutes.
- Cover meat with mix of tomato sauce and tomato paste; add lemon juice.
- Allow meat to simmer for 20-30 minutes.
- Serve over pasta, rice, on a bun, or add to a chili.
