Move ‘N Groove is a creative movement program for children ages 2 to 7 years. Each episode is based on a curriculum developed by Deborah Damast a leading dance education expert who holds a faculty position at NYU’s Steinhardt School of Education as Master Teacher of Dance Education. Deborah’s dance curriculum and classes are highly acclaimed by teachers, parents, administrators at private studios, daycare centers and pre-schools.
I am a stay at home mom and let me tell you some days can get pretty monotonous. Big Sis is 4 and is still unable to play by herself for even 2 minutes. So more often than not I put on some TV for her while I am cooking dinner. She is not huge into TV but sometimes I just need something to keep her occupied while I am doing some housework. When I came across Move 'N Groove Kids I thought it sounded like a great idea. A DVD that can get her up and moving while also keeping her attention all at the same time?
The three DVDs are:
- Move 'N Groove Kids Volume 1
- Move 'N Groove Kids go to the Park
- Move 'N Groove Kids go to the Zoo
These DVDs really surprised me with how great they really are. Big Sis literally copies everything the kids are doing in the DVDs. She moves around and best of all she is smiling and laughing while doing all the activities. She has a great time every time she watches them. Hoping around like different animals or pedaling a pretend bike...all using motions that young kids can understand and imitate. Of course Lil Sis at 14 months old is constantly trying to copy Big Sis but it won't be long before she is able to follow along too.
Here is a great trailer clip to let you really get a feel for the DVDs. In fact watch the trailer with your kids. When I did Big Sis watched over my shoulder and instantly got up and started moving to the dance moves in the clip. That was all it took for me to realize that these DVDs would be a hit.
Here are some random pictures of Big Sis in action while watching the videos. She was moving around so much it was hard to get a picture.
These are great DVDs to have in your collection. These DVDs actually encourage your children to get up and move! These would be especially nice for families up North who might find it hard to get outside for some exercise with the kiddos. These DVDs are exercise without feeling like exercise. They just feel like fun. A preschool teacher with a rainy day and the kids need to get some energy out....this DVDs would be absolutely perfect!
Big Sis made be a believer in the Move 'N Groove Kids DVDs. She is constantly asking to watch them over and over and we have had these for weeks now. I don't feel guilty putting these DVDs on when I need to get some housework or dinner done. I know she is getting exercise while having a good time. These are the perfect DVDs to keep the little ones active inside!
