I have been having a delightful time trying out all sorts of different sauces from San-J. I wanted to share with you one of the most colorful, simple and delicious dishes I’ve prepared so far!
I love Asian cuisine. The marriage between sweet and spicy, smooth and crisp textures are always appealing. They have so many ways of creating of dressing up vegetables that it is hard not to fall head over heels. The only thing that ever got to me was that most often times it is a pain to do everything by scratch, all those spices and sauces! So I was pretty excited to see how simple it was just having everything all bottled up and ready to marinate and steam with the San-J sauces!
For this dish I used the San-J Teriyaki Stir-Fry & Marinade. It is not only Gluten-Free, but also certified Kosher!
What you need:
- San-J Teriyaki Stir-Fry & Marinade
- Vegetables (Broccoli, Peppers, Zucchini, Bamboo Shoots, Water Chestnuts, Straw Mushrooms..)
- White Rice
- Slice and chop all the vegetables and place them into a container. You can follow the directions on the bottle or just pour in 1/2c of Teriyaki Sauce per 1c of Vegetables. Make sure it is mixed well and place in the refrigerator for no less than 15min. I put mine in a sealed container and turned it every 20 minutes (so the sauce would re-coat the vegetables) for an 1hr.
- Cook on Med-Low heat and cover so that the vegetables ‘steam’. I prefer slow cooking them this way so that they keep their shape and color. Cooking them too fast will cook most of them too much and others too little.
- Once the vegetables are tender enough to put a fork through, I topped them off with 2tbsp more of the Teriyaki Sauce and placed them on a bed of rice.
My kids loved the Teriyaki, though I must admit that they really love vegetables as well. Teriyaki has a sweet taste to it so it’s easier for kids to latch onto as a beginner plate in Asian cuisine!
If I were to add in chicken, I would marinate it separately and cook them in a different skillet so as to allow the vegetables to still slow cook. When cooking marinaded meat for dishes like this you want it on a Med-High heat and stirring regularly and/or adding sauce to make sure it doesn’t dry out. Just FYI if you decide to turn it a little less ‘vegetarian’!
Next I am going to be trying out the Orange Sauce! I am a big fan of Orange Chicken! So stay tuned…
