Meet Our Newest Addition

Last week, we were burdened with a sad decision, one of the hardest we have ever had to make. Our oldest dog would have to be put down. She's getting old, very old and has been acting more aggressive for quite some time. Her bones are sore, you can see it in her walk. Friday evening, she growled at our other dog as she was lying next to my brother. Then she bit him in the hand. It wasn't bad, but we just think of how worse it could have been.

We decided it was time to put her down.

That wasn't an easy decision and definitely not one that we took lightly. The kids were sad beyond belief, as were we. She was a member of our family since Big Bro was just a tiny little tot. We've had her for 12 years, a lifetime to our children.

We talked it over for the last week and decided that we would get another puppy to try to ease some of that loss. Of course our dog is irreplaceable, but a puppy would help divert the attention to sad thoughts. So we started searching.. and searching.

Finally we found some that looked adorable, were the right breed and located close enough to us. We hopped in the truck this morning and started our journey to Chicago to see the pups and hopefully meet our new pet.

It was a long journey and let me just say the the GPS on my phone sucks. Royally. It took us to the same street, but in the suburbs instead of the city of Chicago. Luckily, we finally found our way and got to meet the three pups.

They were all absolutely adorable, but a little sketchy and didn't want to come up to us at first. Then one finally came up to Big Bro and kept going back up to him. That's the one we decided would join our little family.

We made the journey home, introduced him to the rest of the kids and everyone fell in love.

We haven't named him yet because the kids left almost right away to spend the night with some friends. I told them to think about names and we will all pool our ideas together when they get home. Then we will take a vote and choose our favorite name. It only seems fitting that we all choose his name and I can't wait to see the ideas that everyone comes up with!

Without further ado... meet our newest addition!

I LOVE German Shephards and this dog is beautiful! His coloring is so pretty too...Lucky!When I was a kid, that was the only breed of dog we basically had and I just think they're awesome!

So sorry for the loss of your loved pet. It is such a difficult thing to go through and so sad. Most of us have experienced that kind of loss. Congrats though on your new puppy. He is adorable and will bring much happiness like your other dog did.
