Kobo, a global leader in eReading, wants kids to reach the Cornucopia, tour the Chocolate Factory, and visit the City of Bones with great eReader savings. With the number of children reading digitally on the rise and summer holidays around the corner, parents need look no further than a Kobo eReader to fill those hours in the car, on the beach, or hanging out in the backyard.
I am a librarian and a mom that embraces everything technology related and I am always looking to see what companies come up with next. I love the newest and the coolest. I am also a librarian that loves the advancement of eReaders and the places they are going. Don't get me wrong I love the feeling of holding a book in my hand and physically turning the pages but I also love the idea of reading books on an eReader and the ability to take 100s of books with me wherever I go on a portable device!
Kobo worked with Parent Tested Parent Approved™ (PTPA), North America’s largest volunteer parent testing community with more than 60,000 parents, to survey families about their kids’ digital reading habits. For many parents, the rationale for buying eBooks include the ability to have many books on a single portable device (20%), fostering their children’s love of reading (13%), and enjoying the overall reading experience (13%). PTPA survey respondents listed enjoyment (58%), learning (54%), and comprehension (46%) as the most important aspects of their child’s reading life. The survey also found that children spend a significant amount of time engrossed in books, with 28% reading more than three hours per week, and another 20% reading two to three hours per week.
I love to see kids reading no matter what the content. Magazines, graphic novels or just whatever gets them excited. If kids are excited about eReaders I say go for it!
I got to review the Kobo Mini and I will admit this is the very first eReader I have ever owned. From the moment I opened this eReader I was in love!

I immediately checked out some eBooks from my local library and put them on the Kobo mini. The words on the screen are literally crystal clear. Just touch the screen to move onto the next paragraph/page.
Big Sis also enjoyed reading children's book on it too. There are so many children's book titles available for eReaders out there that the possibilities seem endless!
The Kobo set up on my computer is so incredibly easy to use. I followed the instructions exactly (because I am just one of those people) and had no problems getting ebooks onto the reader.
