I love food. I mean c’mon – who doesn’t?! I don’t mind cooking, but dining out is just so much easier! That’s why when I heard about this fun Restaurant Blog Hop that Social Fabric put together, I couldn’t resist joining in!
Living in the Milwaukee {WI} area, there are many great restaurants. Of course, I haven’t tried nearly close to them all – but I sure have dined on some amazing meals!
That’s Amore – By far the best Italian restaurant that I have ever dined at, located on 108th St {Hwy 100} just South of Layton Ave. Their food is amazing and they serve unlimited salad and bread sticks too, just like that chain restaurant – but so much better!
El Fuego / El Beso – These are sister Mexican cuisine restaurants with an awesome atmosphere. Located on 6th and Layton / 76th street by Southridge Mall respectively – you’re sure to enjoy your dining experience complete with music and the best Margaritas in town! These are usually our destination for our annual “Girl’s Night”! The waiters will bring fresh tortilla chips and salsa to your table, on the house!
Not the best photo, but you can see our table full of Margaritas at El Fuego! We were in the party room – the restaurant is decorated much cooler! |
Mario’s – In Mukwonago, where I’m located, they have the best pizza in town! They offer a complete menu aside from pizza too, specializing in Italian cuisine. Carry out and delivery only.
IHOP – I know it’s a chain, but seriously the best breakfast in town! I could never get sick of dining there. Of course they offer more than just breakfast, though that’s what I’m partial to! Located on 6th and Layton, close to the airport.
Rocky Rococo – This is also a chain, but pretty limited to this area. Their pizza and bread sticks are amazing. You can dine in, carry out or go through the drive thru. They offer pizza by the slice, fast and ready as well as whole pizza pies! My cousin loves to go here every time she visits from Indiana.
Fork in the Road – Located in Mukwonago, this is a great family restaurant full of rich local history. It used to be an Inn back in the day and there are actually stories of hauntings! They are known for their Mac n Cheese – the make many different varieties. My sister Courtney works there, so be sure to request her as your server if you visit!
Derango’s – Located in South Milwaukee on Rawson Avenue, they have a complete menu including hot bomber sandwiches, pizza, chicken and fish. Their Meatball and Philly Cheesesteak Bombers are to die for and their fish is among the best I’ve ever had. Carry out and delivery only.
The Painted Parrot – Located in West Allis, they serve the best fish fry in town! They’re packed on a Friday evening, so make sure you call ahead or prepare to wait. Their potato pancakes are the best I’ve ever eaten!
Monk’s – Not quite in town, but Wisconsin Dells is only 2 hours away. Many locals go there for family vacation. The Dell’s offers two locations of Monk’s restaurants. They have the best deep fried cheese curds and kids’ meals are served on a Monk’s branded frisbee that they get to take home!
My boys sitting at the table waiting for food at Monk’s. They were pretty young here! |
Rock Bottom Brewery – A brewery along the Milwaukee river, you can pull your boat right up and dock! They have the most amazing appetizers and their Firecracker Shrimp is just amazing – even though I normally don’t care for shrimp!
I could go on and on about great places to dine in and around Milwaukee, but here’s a start! If you’re ever in the area, these places will not disappoint!
If you live in the area or just plan to visit our beautiful state, I’ve compiled a few lists that might interest you. Wisconsin Beautiful Wonders Await shares a few great places to visit.
