During the summer, I swear these kids will eat us out of house and home. It seems between the four of them, they are always snacking. You bring a friend or two in the mix and our cupboards and refrigerator empty quickly! I’m always looking for new snacks, preferably something more filling than a bag of chips. So when I heard about Tyson Chicken Fries, it sounded like a great chicken snack for them – more filling and better than some of their other choices. Right away, I had an awesome idea for serving and holding dipping sauces for chicken! You can check out my Sam’s Club shopping trip here.
My original plan was to serve the boys Tyson Chicken Fries and French Fries for lunch this weekend. Well plans always change around here and I ended up one boy short. The Man’s mom, step dad, sister and nephew decided to stop out by us for the day too. Not to fret though, because it was a perfect afternoon snack instead.
It’s no surprise to find me in the kitchen when we have company, so they didn’t mind sending me off for a bit to get everything prepared. I set out cups, napkins, plastic baskets and raffia for my project, then cooked the Tyson Chicken Fries and some french fries.
I wrapped a napkin around each cup and tied it with a piece of raffia, then laid a napkin inside each of the baskets. I actually got the cup idea from Keri at Shaken Together. Next, I filled some little solo cups with condiments and jalapeno peppers. Then I filled the baskets and cups up with Chicken Fries and french fries and set them on my favorite tray.
I was so happy with how the baskets and cups turned out. It was such a great way to think outside the box and present our food in a fun way for our summer snack attack!
As soon as I set the snacks on the table, hands started reaching from everywhere. We had a hungry crew and they were all excited to try the Tyson Chicken Fries. My MIL complimented my display and though it was such a great idea for grab and go snacks.
Of course the Tyson Chicken Fries were a hit with everyone, as were the french fries. Our nephew loved the Tyson Chicken Fries so much that he ate them all up before even touching the french fries!
Lil Man ran to the store with my FIL while I was making everything. Lucky for him, he made it back before they were all gone and he came prepared with barbecue sauce {something that I didn’t realize we were out of}! He just loved them and said we need to get these all the time!
The consensus was that the food was awesome. My family wants me to buy them again and I’ll gladly oblige. The bonus is that I don’t really have to cook. Just throw them in the oven for 12-15 minutes and voila, instant snack or meal!
In no time flat each cup and basket was back on the tray – empty, except for that one lonesome french fry someone overlooked!
