Some of my #MotherFunny Moments and More from NickMom

Blog

I’m a blogger, yes. But first and foremost, I’m a mom and honestly, I probably would have never even started a blog had I not been. I’d be working my way up the corporate ladder, grinding into my work 24/7. But instead, I spend my evenings with my family – which I absolutely love that I’m able to do. After the kids have gone to bed, it’s my time to unwind and not have to focus on work or my household duties anymore. Lately, I’ve been visiting the NickMom website for some good laughs.

It’s chock full of humor and they even have this whole Kids Say of the Day section, where they feature hilarious comments that real kids say every single day!

If you’re a long time reader of Outnumbered 3 to 1, you might remember the Kids Say posts that I used to do featuring my own crazy silly boys! Some of those highlights include the following:

  • No, boxers wear boxers and that’s why they’re called boxers
  • I’m gonna go to sleep tonight and when I wake up, I’m gonna have my real wings!
  • Kita’s {our dog} not a mammal. She’s a female.
But you should really click the link above and check out the whole series. My boys, especially the youngest are just outright hilarious at times! Since he was just a toddler, Lil Man would do and say such hilariously mind blowing things! The photo below was taken at a park when he was roughly 5 years old. He was making silly faces while drinking a juice box and I just happened to catch it in a forever memory!
The outright hilariousness from the NickMom site has inspired me to do some digging. I’ve been digging through not only my memory, but through old photos too – for simple truth that my kids are among the funniest on this planet.
So another day, at the same park – the kids decide it’s too hot out and they want to cool off in the little kiddie wading pool. Of course I let them because I’m all about fun and let’s face it – they need to cool off on a hot day. All of the kids went in and dipped their feet – including my teen brothers. Lil Man is such a social butterfly that he actually got in and played with the little kids. So by the time he was out, he was soaked from head to toe. And then, he covered his wet self in sand. No, those are NOT khaki shorts – they’re blue jeans!
My brothers have always been close with my kids because the youngest is only 4.5 years older than my oldest son. So they’d often walk to the park with us and play with the kids – usually on the swings or slide. But one day, I caught my brother off guard on one of the little ride on things that was much to small for him. It was hilarious because he was almost tipping off each time that he would go back and forth. Too bad I never caught them playing with the little baby walk along toy behind him, bwahahaha!
Now one of the funniest things ever was one of the times we took the kids camping. We usually camp in the spot right along the river and everyone goes down to throw a fishing line in. Within minutes, Lil Man comes running up screaming “I got a shish, I got a shish!”. You see, he had a bit of a speech impediment when he was little!
I often catch embarrassing moments on camera and I had forgotten all about this latest one until I came across the picture. I told you my kid likes to cool off and sometimes he doesn’t care where that is – even if it’s a baby pool!
So the ultimate of hilariousness that ever came out of the boy is when he was in third grade. He was playing on the jungle gym at school and went down the fire pole. His arm got stuck between two bars and he said “My arm went snap“. He had to find a playground monitor and then went to the nurse. She called me and said “Lil Man thinks he broke his arm”, so we rushed to get him from school, saw the arm and there was no doubt it was broken so we rushed to the hospital. They immediately pumped morphine through him and the craziest of all things crazy came out of his mouth. I mean, can you imagine an 8 year old kid on Morphine?!
This was the second time he broke that arm, so it was pretty serious and they said he would probably need surgery. Of course he heard all of this so he pretty much screamed “Are they going to cut my arm off and put a wooden one on?” Lucky for him, that’s just not how it works!

A few weeks later, we were in the hospital prepping for surgery and this is the conversation that we had while he was changing into the hospital gown:

Lil Man: Why do I have to put that on?
Me: Because that’s what you wear in the hospital.
Lil Man: {in a very hushed voice} Will it tie in the back, so they can’t see my butt?

I’m sure you’ve got the same sense of humor as I do and I’m even more sure that your own kids have done and said some completely off the wall stuff too! Well we want to hear it! Tell me some of the crazy things your kids have said and done. I want to hear it all!
